Effective roadmaps prioritize initiatives and themes, aligning them with strategic objectives. Roadmaps should communicate the ‘why’ behind features, connecting them to larger themes that drive product vision.
MVP definition requires a strict focus on the core functionality needed to validate critical product hypotheses. The MVP scope should be lean, emphasising features that directly test assumptions about user value and market fit.
Success metrics should cascade from overarching business goals down to individual initiatives. Clear Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) should define success at each level, enabling data-driven decision-making and iterative improvement.
Usability testing should be integrated into the product development lifecycle. Iterative testing plans involve frequent feedback loops with users, enabling rapid identification of usability issues and ensuring a user-centric design approach.
In this assignment I undertook the process of defining the initiatives and themes, creating a product roadmap for stakeholder alignment. The MVP scope was minimised to critically assess their market-fit and reduce risk. Clear OKRs and KPIs are defined, cascading from the North Star Metric to feature level success metrics. Mid/Hi-Fi prototypes were developed considering UX best practices and subsequently used for usability testing, providing crucial insight into the feature design.
A data-driven method for optimising content spread across the platform has been outlined, based on a machine learning algorithm. This will ensure the product feature continues to provide maximum value with respect to the increased conversion rate per the feature’s operational cost.
